Frequently asked questions

What is FLOPS?

An idle game about building the compute that reaches AGI. You start with a Raspberry Pi in your garage and grow through racks, data centers, cloud regions, GPU clusters and AI agents, all the way to orbit and beyond.

Is it a tapping game?

No. There's no tap-to-earn. Your hardware earns on its own, even while the app is closed. The game is the decisions you make when you check in: what to buy, what to research, when to take a risk.

When and where can I play?

FLOPS is coming soon to iOS and Android. There's no release date yet. Join the launch list and we'll email you when it's out.

Is it free?

Yes. FLOPS is free to play, with no banner ads, and every era is reachable without paying.

Does it play offline?

Yes. Your company keeps earning while you're away (at a reduced rate, for up to 12 hours), and you collect it when you come back. No account needed.

What are Qubits?

The game's premium currency, used for shortcuts like finishing a build early. You never need it to progress.

How do I hear when it launches?

Put your email in the Notify me form. We'll send one email when FLOPS is out, nothing else.

I found a bug or have feedback. Where do I send it?

Use the contact form and pick "Bug report" or "Feedback". In the game, you can also use More → Settings → Send feedback.

Getting started

The basics, in the order you'll meet them.

The core loop

Every minute of FLOPS comes down to three moves: buy capacity (power and cooling), buy servers (each one earns crypto per second, forever), and buy upgrades (which multiply output and open new tiers). Then repeat it bigger.

Watch your net rate

Your crypto rate is what your servers earn minus what your company costs to run. If it turns red, salaries and running costs are outrunning income: add servers, or trim what you don't need.

Find your bottleneck

  • Balance growing but rate flat? Buy more servers.
  • Servers throttled? Check the power and cooling meters and add capacity.
  • One upgrade from a big multiplier? Save for it first.

Finding your way around

Home is your campus: tap a building once to select it, again to open it. Console shows what needs your attention. Along the bottom: Tech, Staff, Store, Overclock and More. Tap any ⓘ for a definition.

Tips for your first hour

  • Cooling fills before power on a stack of Pis, so buy desk fans first.
  • Buy capacity before servers. A new rack with no power or cooling budget runs throttled.
  • Keep facilities staffed to what they need. Short-staffed sites slow down a lot.
  • Don't overclock until you have some redundancy and an engineer to keep it safe.
  • Spend into the weekly live events: double research on Wednesday evenings, double crypto on Saturday evenings. Missing one costs you nothing.
